When you try to fire up elinks on a Linux server, Core Shell does not handle displaying the text properly. The text has characters that are replaced by symbols. If you exit elinks the incorrect character encoding (I assume) is retained until you log out.
If you use elinks from within the standard macOS terminal app, it works just fine.
