Hello,
When I try to upload or download a file (even a simple 4 byte text file), it literally takes minutes to do so. It gets stuck on the "Preparing files to upload/download" step for most of the time, but eventually, it is able to do the UL/DL.
This definitely seems like a bug, but I am putting it in support in case there is something I am doing wrong on my end. This is connected to a local server on my LAN. When I use SCP to do the same operation, it happens instantly, which is why I believe it is a bug of some sort.
I have quick downloads/uploads enabled, but I have tried both with this enabled and disabled and the result is the same.

Here is the problem, your private key in agent was rejected by remote for some reasons, but it succeeded afterward via password
authentication.
Disable PubkeyAuthentication
directive or set PreferredAuthentications
to password,keyboard-interactive
should fix the issue.
Feel free to let me know if you still could not get it work.
Kindly Regards,
Yang
That worked, thank you!
For others with this issue - I use 1Password SSH Agent for managing my SSH keys, which uses IdentityAgent
or SSH_AUTH_SOCK
to authenticate:
So, even though I had no keys in CoreShell, it seems like it will only trigger the agent for initial login authentication and not for file transfers.
Is there any way to work around this to make it use an agent for file transfers? Ideally, I would like it to trigger the prompt as in the screenshot above whenever I upload/download a file.

Could you please try run command in local shell:
sftp -vvv -o ServerAliveCountMax=3 -o ServerAliveInterval=15 -o ExitOnForwardFailure=yes -o ControlMaster=no -P 22 kali@192.168.40.7:
then send me a copy of desensitized terminal output? It would help me identified the problem.

Hi Yang,
Here is that log: sftp_coreshell.log
Thank you for your help with this.

Thank you again for the log. I found a similar issue reporting on a open source project:
This issue is caused by 1Password not responding to the agent request because it can't find a GUI app associated with the client, which is the OrbStack service/forwarder in this case. Our service is a background daemon, so I'm not sure if we can do much about this.
– ssh-agent forwarding not working (with 1Password) · Issue #185 · orbstack/orbstack · GitHub
Core Shell's SFTP component also a background service, so I suspect that it may be rejected by 1Password. Could you please create a ticket for 1Password team?
I'll keep this ticket open until we find out the real cause.
Kindly Regards,
Yang
